Lee Glass Sherwood Update | Farewell John & Danny Lee

It’s been 30 years since the retirement of Lee Glass founder Terry Lee, which lead to the takeover of the business by his sons Martin & John Lee, and nephew, Danny Lee. John and Danny have now decided that the time is right for them to also step back and enjoy the fruits of their labour in retirement.

Following Terry’s retirement in 1993, Danny took over the running of the glazing and installations side of the business. At the same time, Martin began taking care of the glass cutting and processing work that was carried out at our Sherwood factory. With the opening of our new purpose built production facility in Bulwell in 2001, Martin moved from Sherwood to drive the expansion and modernisation of Lee Glass and oversee the installation of our state of the art glass cutting, processing and toughening machinery. With Martin now based at Bulwell, John stepped up to take over the management of the Lee Glass Sherwood branch.

Under New Management  Back Under Old Management!

Now, 21 years later and with Danny & John’s departure, Martin Lee is re-taking the reins of the whole business.

Martin is not viewing his brother and cousin’s retirement as the end of an era however. In fact, Martin sees this as an opportunity for further modernisation and development, starting with upgrades to the phone systems and IT infrastructure, along with staff training programs and re-organisation of the management structure. This will allow Lee Glass to work more efficiently and continue to provide, and improve, the excellent service that we have been known for since Terry Lee started the company 55 years ago. Our customers will still be able to visit either branch to access any of the products or services that we offer.

John intends to leave Sherwood, with plans to travel the world, from the end of July 2022. Danny will continue to offer Martin his unparalleled expert advice until later in the year. Martin would like to thank them both for the hard work and support they have provided over the years and wish them all the best for a very long and happy retirement. The kettle is always on and we look forward to hearing stories of your life after Lee Glass & Glazing.
