April/May 2016: Madrid Half Marathon, Danielle’s Tandem Skydive & Tough Mudder for MacMillan Cancer Support

Over the last few years we’ve taken part in a number of events to raise money for charity, and it’s starting to get to the point where we needed to take those challenges up a notch! During May 2016 adrenaline junkie Danielle decided to push her boundaries a little further out of her comfort zone, by making the (somewhat ridiculous) decision to jump out of a plane at 13’000ft for a tandem skydive!

In the same month that she also reached the peak of Wales and England’s highest mountains, Danielle also completed the 12 mile obstacle course Tough Mudder at Belvoir Castle alongside her brother and glazier Ben. All of this will be ample training for the Lake District 10 Peaks Challenge which she is attempting for the first time in June, alongside her dad, and veteran mountain hiker Danny Lee. On the same day that the London Marathon took place, Company Director Danny made the very clever decision to fly over to Madrid and took part in their own running event, completing the Half Marathon in under two hours and earning himself a PB in much warmer conditions than he’s normally used to.

Reflecting on their fundraising ventures Danielle explained: “This is an exceptionally busy time for us at Lee Glass, but that doesn’t stop us from wanting to push ourselves outside of work as well as in the office. Being able to raise money for charity along the way makes that all the more fulfilling and well worth the (often) aching muscles. MacMillan Cancer Support is a charity very close to all of our hearts here at Lee Glass, we’re very proud to contribute towards the cause in any way we can. The only hard part now is thinking of what challenge to do next!”

Best of luck to Danny and Danielle who will be attempting to climb 10 mountains and walk a total distance of 48km in the space of 24 hours next month. Danny, Danielle and Ben Lee are also booked to take part in Mens Health Survival of The Fittest in October later this year. Progress updates to follow!
